Boris Vesnin: "The memory of the hero of the Shabalinsky district, Pavel Glushkov, has returned to his native land."
Pavel Glushkov was born in 1916, and in July 1941 he was called to the front, going through a difficult combat path as part of the motorized rifle units of the Red Army. He participated in battles on the Oryol-Kursk direction, and as part of the 26th motorized rifle brigade, he fought in one of the most challenging sections of the front. On October 26, 1943, the Red Army soldier was killed during a breakthrough of the defense while participating in an operation that opened the way for the liberation of Crimea.
Pavel Glushkov found his final resting place thousands of kilometers from his hometown—in a mass grave. His name is immortalized on a memorial stele in the village of Vesyoloye. In October of last year, students from the local school delivered a box of soil from the site of Pavel Glushkov's mass burial to his small homeland—the village of Novotroitskoye in the Shabalinsky district. This is a symbol of respect, gratitude, and memory of a man who gave his life for liberation.
The transfer of the box of soil became the central event of the memorial ceremony in the Shabalinsky district. On the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, residents, veterans, public representatives, and youth gathered to honor the memory of their fellow countryman and recall his combat path.
The commemorative box was handed over to the students of Novotroitskaya Secondary School by Boris Vesnin, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Kirov Region.
"It is very symbolic that today such a bridge of memory has been thrown across 80 years and thousands of kilometers. The box has been transferred to the military museum of the village of Novotroitskoye. It is especially important that the respect and gratitude for the hero-fellow countryman are carefully preserved by the residents of the district, including children and youth. It is through such stories that the connection between generations and the truth about the heroism of our people is preserved," noted Boris Vesnin.
The memory of Pavel Glushkov is preserved in the Book of Memory of Kirov Region, archival documents, and the hearts of his fellow countrymen. In response, the students and young army members of Novotroitskoye handed over a box of soil from Pavel Glushkov's homeland to the school in the village of Vesyoloye. This became yet another reminder of the unbreakable connection between generations and the shared history of our country.
