The team of VyatSU honored the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War on the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow.

      Despite the fact that no military actions took place in the Kirov region, every resident of Kirov made an invaluable contribution to the common cause of the Great Victory. In the first week of the war, 3,244 residents of the region went to the front, and in total, over 600,000 Kirov residents fought at the front. In the rear, women, teenagers, and the elderly worked around the clock, providing the front with food and everything necessary. Peaceful residents from frontline regions, industrial enterprises, scientific and cultural institutions were evacuated to the Kirov region, where more than 150 evacuation hospitals were set up, saving the lives of tens of thousands of wounded soldiers. The feat of the Kirov residents is forever inscribed in the heroic chronicle of the country. On the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, employees, students, and graduates of Vyatka State University honored the memory of those who defended the freedom and independence of our Motherland at the cost of incredible efforts and sacrifices. Traditionally, at exactly 3:58 AM, at the Eternal Flame on the Green Embankment, members of the VyatGU search team "Torch" welcomed this day together with the whole country. Students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, along with employees from the Department of Educational Work and Social Adaptation, laid flowers at the Monument to the Young Soldier, located in the university's student campus. The faculty of history, political science, and cultural studies laid flowers at the memorial plaques of the Heroes of the Soviet Union who studied at the Kirov State Pedagogical Institute named after V.I. Lenin (now VyatGU). The memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War is not just a tribute to the past, but also a moral guideline for future generations, a reminder of the terrible price of peace that we must cherish. Vyatka State University carefully preserves and transmits this memory, educating students in the spirit of patriotism and respect for the history of their country.
