A volunteer on a bicycle is traveling through the Kirov region, raising money for a children's hospice.
Ilya Shultz is a volunteer who, in 2024, rode from Saint Petersburg to Teriberka on his folding bike Shulz. Now he has embarked on a new project — "The Road to Dawn." The journey began on June 1 in Moscow. The path lies eastward: Vladimir, Suzdal, Ivanovo, Furmanov, and Kineshma have already been passed. On June 19, he reached Sharya, the next stop is Kotelnich, then Kirov. Further on — Yekaterinburg, and possibly beyond — to the Urals, to Siberia, to Baikal, as Shultz himself writes:
"There is no final destination for this journey. And I cannot (and do not want to) promise that I will get anywhere at all. The Urals? Siberia? Baikal? Vladivostok? - who knows. Complete uncertainty. The cosmos with its black swans."
Unlike the previous journey, this project is charitable. Ilya is raising funds for the children's hospice "House with a Lighthouse." In his VK group, he explained his choice:
"This is not about treatment, but about providing the most dignified life possible for those who can no longer be cured. It is about the unconditional value of a person, especially when it concerns children and young adults," he wrote.
The funds will go to the project "Dreams Come True," the hospice's outreach service, and respiratory assistance.
Shultz himself calls this journey "a step into the unknown":
"I am again not prepared physically at all. There is no final destination. I cannot promise that I will get anywhere at all. There is a certain philosophy in this: I will just ride, enjoy the views, and reflect."
On his way, he sleeps in a tent, interacts with people, and most importantly — reminds that help is needed here and now.
