Kirov residents were told how to safely relax with a dog.
The vacation season is in full swing, and many residents of Kirov are going on holiday with their pets. However, traveling with a dog requires preparation: without it, the trip can end in stress, health problems for the animal, or even denial of entry.
As reported by the Russian Cynological Federation, one of the most common mistakes is ignoring veterinary requirements. For trips within Russia and abroad, owners need to check in advance what documents are necessary. In some cases, a veterinary certificate may be required, and for trips to EU countries, mandatory microchipping.
Another issue is the lack of adaptation to transport. If the dog is not used to the car or carrier, the journey can become a serious stress for it. Experts advise gradually getting the pet used to traveling, starting with short routes.
Specialists also recommend paying particular attention to the heat. In summer, dogs can easily overheat, especially in a car or in direct sunlight. Owners are reminded: leaving an animal in a vehicle even for a few minutes is dangerous. The dog should always have water and the opportunity to shelter in the shade.
Among the mistakes, a sudden change in diet is also mentioned. New food or unfamiliar water can cause stomach upset, so it's better to bring a familiar supply of food and water with you.
Another important recommendation is not to let the pet out of sight and to ensure identification. In an unfamiliar place, a dog may get scared and run away, and the absence of a tag or microchip will complicate the search.
