A resident of Kirov lost 16 thousand while booking a hotel in Abkhazia.

In Kirov, the police are investigating yet another case of internet fraud. In early June, a 33-year-old resident of the city saw an advertisement for a hotel in Abkhazia on one of the social networks. The low cost of accommodation attracted the woman. She clicked on the link, submitted an application, and after some time received a response about the possibility of booking. However, to confirm, she was asked to pay for the accommodation in full via a QR code. After transferring 16,000 rubles through a banking app, the Kirov resident was promised that the documents would be sent to her. Instead, she was informed that the payment had allegedly been blocked by the bank's security service and was asked to transfer the money again using a new QR code. At that point, the woman suspected fraud and contacted the police. An investigation is currently underway regarding this matter, and a decision is being made on whether to initiate a criminal case. The police note that with the start of the holiday season, fraudsters are increasingly using schemes involving fake tours, tickets, and accommodation bookings. Residents of the region are urged to be more vigilant and not to transfer money on dubious websites or through links from advertisements on social networks.
