The Ministry of Internal Affairs advises to hide profiles on social networks and delete photos of documents.

      The Ministry of Internal Affairs warned that open profiles and photos with geolocation data allow malicious actors to determine the home address or usual routes of the owner. For safety, it is recommended to use privacy settings and enable two-factor authentication in all messaging apps.

      If personal data has fallen into the hands of outsiders, the agency advises to immediately change passwords for all critical services, check the account on the "Gosuslugi" portal, and review the login history. If there are suspicions of compromise, it is necessary to block bank cards and notify the bank of the risk of fraud. All links, screenshots, and other evidence should be saved in order to later send a request to the resource administration for the removal of information.

      Earlier, the Cybercrime Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia identified new malicious software for the Android platform — Drama RAT. This is a remote control tool designed for data theft and managing banking applications. It can also completely block the device, writes "RT in Russian."

      The malware spreads through messaging apps, SMS, or email disguised as files with names like "Declaration" and "Invoice." The victim is promised free access to a number of services. After installation, the app requests permission to update — this is how it loads the main malicious component in the background, then requests access to the Accessibility Service. By clicking "OK," the user allows the Trojan to read the screen, intercept passwords, and simulate touches. The program also asks to set a PIN code so that the attacker can lock the infected smartphone.

      To protect against this, the Ministry of Internal Affairs recommends installing applications only from official sources, carefully reading permission requests, and using antivirus software. If the device is infected, do not attempt to remove the malware through regular settings — the operation will be blocked. It is necessary to enable safe mode and reset the device to factory settings. From another, uninfected device, change passwords for banks, email, and messaging apps, block bank cards, and contact the bank and law enforcement agencies.
