Access to Roblox in Russia has started to be unblocked.
The head of the Safe Internet League, Yekaterina Mizulina, was one of the first to notice the gradual lifting of restrictions, reports transsibinfo.com.
Recall that difficulties accessing the service arose back in December 2025. At that time, Roskomnadzor initiated a block due to serious complaints about the platform's content and the quality of internal moderation. However, six months later, in June 2026, the authorities softened their position: official guarantees of compliance with Russian legislation were received from the developers.
What is Roblox and why did they want to block it
Roblox is not just a game, but a huge virtual universe where anyone can create their own gaming worlds and communicate with other participants. The uncontrolled popularity of the service among children and teenagers raised particular concern among regulators.
According to Roskomnadzor, prohibited content, including extremist materials, scenes of violence, and calls for illegal actions, was repeatedly recorded on the platform.
In addition, the supervisory agency pointed out the weak performance of the built-in moderation system, which failed to filter dangerous content.
Conditions for return
The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media explained that the decision to restore access became possible after receiving written commitments from the platform's owner. Representatives of Roblox confirmed their readiness to diligently comply with all requirements of Russian laws, including the prompt removal of illegal material.
Nevertheless, the State Duma urged caution in drawing conclusions. Parliamentarians emphasized that full unblocking is only possible on the condition of real, not nominal, compliance with these requirements. For now, access is being restored gradually, and relevant agencies continue to monitor the situation.
