The document was signed by the General Director of MegaFon Khachatur Pombukhchan and the Governor of Irkutsk Region Igor Kobzev. As part of the agreements, the operator will provide telecommunications infrastructure and analytical services for tourist facilities being created as part of the federal project "Five Seas and Lake Baikal." It involves the development of year-round resorts on the shores of the Baltic, Black, Azov, Caspian, and Japanese seas, as well as on Baikal. In Irkutsk Region, the project includes two sites: the tourist area "Baikal Sloboda" near the village of Taltsy and the special economic zone "Gates of Baikal" in Baikalsk.
In addition, the cooperation will focus on implementing digital solutions to enhance the comfort and safety of the urban environment, as well as on ecological projects related to the rehabilitation of water bodies, reducing the volume of solid municipal waste, and decreasing harmful emissions.
"As part of the federal project 'Five Seas and Lake Baikal' of the national project 'Tourism and Hospitality,' the creation of infrastructure in two locations is planned in Irkutsk Region: 'Baikal Sloboda' near the village of Taltsy and the special economic zone 'Gates of Baikal' in Baikalsk. For the comprehensive development of these areas, quality and stable communication is undoubtedly important. In addition, an analysis of tourist flows is necessary, which will allow us to identify the main attractions. Environmental monitoring is also an important direction for us. The implementation of digital solutions for automatic monitoring of the state of the environment will contribute to increasing environmental safety in the region. I am confident that the agreements reached will be another step towards further digitalization development in Irkutsk Region," commented the Governor of Irkutsk Region Igor Kobzev.
"Today, the development of tourism cannot be viewed separately from the progress of the digital environment. People expect stable communication, convenient services, and a high level of safety, regardless of whether they are in a large city or a tourist location. Therefore, as part of our cooperation with Irkutsk Region, we will focus not only on the development of telecommunications infrastructure but also on implementing solutions that will help the region manage tourist flows more effectively, improve the urban environment, and implement ecological projects," noted the General Director of MegaFon Khachatur Pombukhchan.
A separate direction will be the development of technological solutions for the state and municipal services of the region. In particular, MegaFon is ready to implement a trunking communication system based on domestic developments for the needs of healthcare, the housing and utilities sector, as well as to provide its competencies and technologies to enhance the level of information security.
