Tree felling has been halted in Victory Park.

      As noted by the department, specialists from the Ministry of Natural Resources, together with representatives from the Ministry of Construction, went to the site. A commission is currently conducting an inspection of the area where the cutting of green spaces had previously begun. A forest pathology specialist has been involved in the work. The commission is assessing the condition of the trees that are in the work zone. According to the Directorate of Urban Improvement of Kirov, at this time, the cutting of green spaces has been halted.

      Let us remind you that the situation surrounding the improvement of Victory Park has caused a wide public outcry. Earlier, activists from the People's Front stated that residents of the city are dissatisfied with the mass cutting down of trees. Public figures pointed out that the voting materials for the park's improvement lacked detailed information about the scale of the cutting and compensatory plantings.

      In addition, questions were raised regarding the municipal contract data. According to the Kirov administration, it was planned to fell 72 trees in the park. However, the documentation referenced by the activists mentioned the uprooting of 160 stumps. Public figures also expressed doubts that all the trees slated for removal were hazardous.

      The governor took note of this. He stated that the city authorities should have discussed the project in more detail with the residents. He instructed the Ministry of Natural Resources to check the legality of the cutting and demanded accountability for each illegally felled tree.

      The regional head also publicly reprimanded the head of the Kirov administration, Vyacheslav Simakov, noting that he does not adequately supervise the work of his subordinates.
