Russians named their favorite movie genres for relaxation after work.
A survey involved 3,000 economically active citizens from all regions of Russia. 35% of respondents named comedy as their main way to unwind from work. In second place are detective stories (20%), and in third place are science fiction and fantasy (19%). Thrillers are chosen by 13%, animated series and melodramas by 11% each, action movies by 9%, and war films by 8%. Crime and drama were mentioned the least (6% each). 9% of respondents do not watch films and series at all, and another 9% found it difficult to answer.
Women more often than men choose detective stories (22% vs. 17%), melodramas (19% vs. 3%), and dramas (8% vs. 4%). Men are more active in watching fantasy (22% vs. 16%), action movies (14% vs. 4%), and war films (11% vs. 6%).
Young people under 35 noticeably more often than the older generation choose animated series (18%). The 45+ audience stands out for their love of detective stories (22%) and war films (13%), while action movies and fantasy are more popular among those younger.
Among professionals, comedy is especially loved by drivers (52%) and logisticians (50%). Detectives are more often chosen by accountants (47%) and PR managers (43%). Fantasy is favored by office managers and PR specialists (29% each), as well as secretaries and system administrators (27% each). War films are more often preferred by security guards (30%) and chief accountants (23%). Melodramas are also liked by chief accountants (31%) and salespeople (27%). Animated series are popular among analysts (29%), doctors, and system administrators (15% each).
On weekdays after work (from 7 PM to midnight), viewers most often choose detective stories, comedies, and thrillers. The most active viewing time is from 7 PM to 8 PM.
