Forrest Gump and Danila Bagrov: political technologists have crafted the portrait of the ideal deputy.

      Fifteen experts surveyed "themselves" and produced twenty pages on what an ideal people's representative should be like. Among the fictional characters who could successfully run for office are Danila Bagrov, Ostap Bender, Professor Preobrazhensky, Cheburashka, Aragorn, and even Tony Stark. But the top spot in this strange chart went to Forrest Gump.

      One of the authors of the report, the General Director of the "Center for Regional Policy Development," Ilya Graschenkov, published a reflection on his TG channel about why "the man with a box of chocolates" suddenly became a favorite.

      "I participated in this work too and, of course, was surprised. Then I thought that indeed, he is such a hero of our time. When it was necessary to run — he ran. When it was necessary to serve — he served. When it was necessary to catch shrimp — he caught shrimp. I always thought that politics was more complicated, but now I understand that not right now," wrote the political scientist.

      According to Graschenkov, people are tired of those who "always very intelligently explain why nothing can be done." They need "not the cleverest, not the loudest, and not the shiniest, but someone to whom they can entrust their troubles."

      What experts see as the ideal candidate

      The averaged portrait looks like this.

      Gender — no longer the main thing, although a male "defender" is still preferable for a single-member district. Age — from 40 to 50 years. Must be born and live in the same region where they are running: "Varangians" are not liked. Education — higher, with the most attractive professions being doctor, teacher, engineer, military (all close to the people). Experience: success in business, plus government service, plus public activism.

      Appearance: height from 175 cm, average build, closer to athletic. Extra weight — a signal of weak will. Clothing — without demonstrating luxury. Family: one marriage, at least two children. Religion: traditional, but without fanaticism. Sports: amateur, preferably individual sports — running, skiing, cycling, without promoting a healthy lifestyle. Bad habits in the public sphere are excluded.

      Financial success: "wealthy, but not spoiled." Too poor — a failure, too rich — a thief. Superpower: the talent of a communicator — "the ability to explain complex things simply, quickly, and clearly." Public role — lobbyist: "you were sent to Moscow, come back not empty-handed." Success story — implementation of a large project through overcoming difficulties.

      Image through the prism of "political eternity"

      All this is an accurate snapshot of the current electoral conjuncture. But if we perceive the RAPK report as an instruction, then real giants of political history would not pass the casting.

      Vladimir Lenin: a lawyer by education, a professional revolutionary, childless marriage, lived on party contributions. We will remain silent about external compliance. Nevertheless, he created a state that did not exist on the map.

      Mikhail Gorbachev: an atheist, one child, a long-standing party career. Yet it was he who managed the country at the moment of its tectonic break.

      Octavian Augustus: a grandnephew of Caesar, short, with bad teeth, three marriages, one child. Nevertheless, he created Pax Romanus.

      Constantine the Great: a military man, executed his wife and son, was baptized on his deathbed. United the empire, founded Constantinople, and legalized Christianity.

      Napoleon Bonaparte: height 168 centimeters (not reaching 175), a poor Corsican "Varangian" for France, two marriages, imperial luxury. His Civil Code still works in half of Europe.

      What does this say? That the idea of an "ideal leader" has never been a constant. It breathes along with the era, reflecting not so much the objective qualities of a person as the collective fears and hopes of the crowd. In antiquity, leaders were required to have divine origins and military valor. In the Middle Ages — holiness and legitimacy from the Almighty. In modern times — genius, audacity, the ability to rewrite laws. And today, in an era of total fatigue from empty words and endless crises, the demand has shrunk to simple, almost archetypal things: "be like us, but stronger; don't deceive; achieve something real."

      The RAPK report is an honest and professional snapshot of what people want right now. They are tired of smart people who explain beautifully. They want real, living, and capable defenders. Those who are not ashamed to be simple, who can listen, and take responsibility.
