A Kirov resident was sentenced to 360 hours of community service for cryptocurrency fraud.
The prosecutor's office of the Oktyabrsky district of Kirov supported the charges in the criminal case against a 19-year-old young man. The court found him guilty under part 2 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed by a group of individuals by prior agreement, as well as causing significant damage to a citizen).
During the hearing, it was established that in November of last year, the defendant, acting out of selfish motives, entered into an online correspondence with the victim. During their communication, he persuaded the interlocutor to transfer 215,000 rubles, claiming that the funds would be used for crypto-investing. However, the young man had no intention of fulfilling his promises — he spent the money at his discretion, causing significant material damage to the victim.
At the stage of the investigation and in court, the defendant fully admitted his guilt. Before the sentence was pronounced, he partially compensated for the damage — he transferred 50,000 rubles to the victim.
The court, assessing the severity of the offense, the information about the defendant's personality, his age, and other mitigating circumstances, agreed with the position of the state prosecutor. The sentence is 360 hours of compulsory work.
The remaining debt amount of 165,000 rubles was recovered from the convicted person at the request of the victim. In addition, the mobile phone used in the commission of the crime was confiscated. In the Malmyzhsky district, four migrants were detained while trying to take 2 million from a villager. A resident of Omsk activated an old number belonging to a Kirov resident and spent his money from the card. Scammers defrauded an 83-year-old Kirov resident of nearly four million rubles.
