Kirov residents were told where to look for ticks.
As specialists note, ticks do not attach immediately after landing on a person's clothing or body. Usually, they spend about 20 minutes searching for a suitable place to bite. At this time, the size of a hungry tick is only 1–3 millimeters, so it can be difficult to notice. This was reported by the Kirov region's Rospotrebnadzor, which explained that a tick bite often goes unnoticed. This is because the saliva of the parasite contains pain-relieving substances.
Ticks most often attach in areas with thin skin and good blood supply. The list includes:
- the hairy part of the head;
- the area behind the ears and the neck;
- armpits;
- navel;
- groin folds;
- the inner surface of the thighs;
- the area under the knees.
Specialists advise regularly conducting self-examinations and checking each other after walks in nature. The agency reminded that this is one of the most effective ways to prevent tick bites.
Recently, we reported that starting from 2026, Rospotrebnadzor will not publish reports with statistics on tick bites, although such information was previously published regularly, and the epidemiological situation in the region remains tense. An infectious disease specialist explained the dangers of going into the forest with only one dose of the vaccine. Is Rospotrebnadzor hiding data on ticks? Sucking won't work: tick treatments have begun on lawns in Kirov.
