On May 21, at a plenary session of the Legislative Assembly, the deputies considered the proposal of Governor Alexander Sokolov to submit a draft federal law to the State Duma that amends the Federal Law "On the Fundamentals of Health Protection for Citizens in the Russian Federation." He proposes that federal authorities provide patients with diabetes with continuous glucose monitoring systems. In particular, this includes children, adults with type 1 diabetes, and pregnant women with any type of diabetes.
Currently, only children and pregnant women receive these systems. Others have to use different methods to determine their blood glucose levels, purchase systems at their own expense, or litigate to receive them for free.
The deputies supported the initiative. It will soon be sent for consideration to the State Duma.
