Sections, circles, and teacher internships: how children were taught in the Kirov region in 2025
In 2025, 223,000 children attended extracurricular circles, sections, and clubs in the Kirov region. This was reported by the press service of Kirovstat.
The largest group consisted of younger schoolchildren (7–10 years old) — 33% of the total number. Children aged 11–14 made up 32%, teenagers aged 15–17 accounted for 18%, and children under 7 years old represented 17%.
Most often, children chose general developmental programs with an artistic focus — 59,000 people. Slightly fewer were in social and humanitarian circles — 56,000. In third place were physical education and sports with 48,000 participants.
Natural science programs were chosen by 30,000 children, and technical programs by 27,000. The least, 7,000 people, were engaged in local studies and tourism.
At the same time, 22,000 children were trained in sports training programs, and 11,000 in pre-professional programs in the field of arts. Within the framework of general education programs, children also went on excursions (39,000), hikes (14,000), and expeditions (600).
By the end of 2025, there were 4,000 teachers in extracurricular education organizations (excluding external part-time workers and those working under civil law contracts). Of these, 3,000 have higher education, with 85% having a pedagogical background. Women make up 73% of the teaching staff.
Almost half of the teachers (49%) are aged 50 and older. Another 31% are specialists aged 35–49, and 20% (800) are young teachers under 34 years old.
