Russians handed in almost 252 million in coins during the "Coin Week."
The Bank of Russia summarized the results of the "Coin Week," which took place in April 2026. Citizens brought in about 55 million coins for exchange. The total weight of the submitted change amounted to 252 tons — 2 tons more than during the previous campaign. The amount that was successfully returned to circulation reached almost 252 million rubles, which is 7 million more than the figure from autumn. The main share, 86.7%, consisted of ruble coins of various denominations. The remaining 13.3% were kopecks. Change could be exchanged not only at banks and stores but also at the ticket offices of some suburban railway stations. The campaign has ended, but some locations continue to accept coins even now. The addresses of participants and conditions are published on the website. The Bank of Russia also reminded that it is not necessary to wait for special campaigns to return coins to circulation — it is enough to use them in everyday life. Earlier, Newsler.ru reported that residents of the Kirov region ranked in the top 4 of the Volga Federal District based on the results of the last "Coin Week." They submitted more than 104,000 coins with a total weight of 409 kg — equivalent to a small car. The amount exceeded 400,000 rubles. Kirov residents most often parted with 10-ruble coins: nearly 329,000 of them were counted across the district.
