Move the toilet and be quiet: summer residents were reminded of the new rules in 2026.

      Russians were informed about the rules that owners of summer cottages and garden plots need to consider in 2026. Some of the requirements are related to sanitary norms and the keeping of animals. This is reported by "Explaining.RF".

      Thus, the installation of septic tanks* and outdoor toilets will be more strictly controlled. The septic tank must be airtight, certified, and have the ability for pumping out. If an old toilet or septic tank is damaged and leaks waste into the ground, it must be replaced or refurbished.

      Norms for the placement of such facilities have also been established. An outdoor toilet or septic tank must be located at least 12 meters from the house, 30 meters from a well or borehole, and at least two meters from the property boundary.

      Furthermore, starting in 2026, the chairpersons of gardening associations will have the ability to record noise violations and pass the information to the police. Noise is allowed at the dacha on weekdays from 08:00 to 21:00, and on weekends from 10:00 to 22:00. In some regions, there is a quiet hour from 13:00 to 15:00.

      Changes also affected the keeping of animals. In garden plots for personal use, it is permitted to keep birds, rabbits, dogs, and cats, provided that sanitary norms are followed. A beehive can only be placed if there is a two-meter fence and a veterinary passport.

      At the same time, it is prohibited to breed goats, sheep, pigs, and cattle in gardening associations. It is also not allowed to use the plot for livestock or poultry farming for commercial purposes.
