The Matveevsky cross procession will take place in the Kirov region.
At the end of May, a three-day Matfeevsky pilgrimage will take place in the Kirov region. As reported by the press service of the Yaran Diocese, pilgrims will follow the route along which the coffin with the remains of St. Matthew of Yaran was carried from the village of Ershovo to Yaran in 1927.
The pilgrimage will start on May 26 in the village of Ershovo and will conclude on May 28 in Yaran. Throughout the journey, participants will be accompanied by an icon with a relic of the saint. Pilgrims will also have the opportunity to participate in confession and communion.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the pilgrimage, which first took place in 2006. The permanent leader of the procession is Archpriest Evgeny Pavlov.
As reported by Bishop Paisiy of Yaran and Luz, believers turn to St. Matthew with prayers in times of illness and difficult life situations.
Schedule of the pilgrimage:
May 26
13:00 — Departure of pilgrims from the Assumption Cathedral of Yaran to the village of Ershovo;
15:00 — All-night vigil at the chapel in the village of Ershovo. After the service — pilgrimage to the village of Belyaevo;
19:30 — Arrival in Belyaevo, dinner, and overnight stay.
May 27
06:30 — Departure from Yaran to Belyaevo for the liturgy;
08:00 — Liturgy at the Nicholas Church in Belyaevo;
12:00 — Continuation of the pilgrimage to the village of Lom;
19:00 — Arrival in Lom, moleben, meal, and overnight stay.
May 28
04:00 — Departure from the village of Lom;
07:00 — Arrival in the village of Rozhdestvenskoye;
08:20 — Arrival at the place called Opytnoe Pole;
09:00 — Liturgy at the church of St. Matthew of Yaran;
11:00 — Departure towards the village of Gorushki;
12:30 — Arrival in Gorushki;
14:00 — Conclusion of the pilgrimage in Yaran at the Trinity Cathedral.
