Kirov residents were told what to do if a snake bites a dog.
Experts remind us: a snake bite is not just a wound, but the introduction of venom into the body. It can cause severe swelling, intoxication, allergic reactions up to anaphylactic shock, and damage to internal organs. Even non-venomous snakes pose a danger due to the risk of infection and unpredictable reactions from the body.
Pet owners are advised to act quickly and without panic. First and foremost, it is necessary to limit the pet's movement to slow the spread of venom. If some time has passed, the wound can be gently washed with soap and water or a mild alcohol-free antiseptic.
It is also recommended to give the animal an antihistamine - it will help reduce the risk of a severe allergic reaction. To reduce swelling, cold can be applied.
However, the key measure is to get the pet to a veterinary clinic as quickly as possible. Only specialists can provide comprehensive treatment: from IV drips and shock therapy to administering antivenom in severe cases.
One of the veterinary clinics in Kirov emphasizes: in the case of a snake bite, the speed of assistance becomes a decisive factor.
