"Does the door need to be replaced?": a Kirov resident was attempted to be swindled out of 400 thousand.
In Kirov, a 55-year-old woman became a victim of an attempted fraud. It all started with a message in a messenger app — unknown individuals introduced themselves as employees of a company that replaces entrance doors and offered their services.
As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Kirov region, the woman became interested in the offer and sent a code from an SMS in response to a request. After that, she was contacted by another interlocutor, who introduced herself as an employee of "State Services." She claimed that the woman had allegedly already communicated with the fraudsters, and now loans could be issued in her name.
Next, "employees" supposedly from supervisory agencies got involved in the scheme. They convinced the woman that to save her money, she urgently needed to withdraw all her savings and transfer them to a "safe account." They promised that the funds would be returned after verification.
The Kirov resident believed them and went to the bank to withdraw 428,000 rubles. However, the bank employees stopped the transaction: they noticed signs of fraud, refused to issue the money, and blocked her card.
After that, the woman informed the "curators" about her failure, and they immediately stopped contacting her. Realizing that she had been attempted to be deceived, the Kirov resident reported it to the police.
As a result, the money remained in the account. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and an investigation is underway.
