With a diploma and no criminal record: The Prosecutor General's Office described the typical corrupt official.
According to the analysis, the typical subject is a man aged 30 to 49, with higher education, married, and previously not convicted. Moreover, more than half of the corrupt individuals hold a university degree, and this figure is even higher among bribers. The most common type of crime remains bribery, with its share increasing from 48.4% to 67.4%. Fraud occupies a significantly smaller portion—about 12%. Almost one-fifth of corruption crimes are committed by a group of individuals, often in collusion. Such offenses are almost always committed while sober, and the rate of recidivism remains low. The social profile of offenders is also significantly different. Almost half of them are hired workers. About 15% do not have a stable income, and there are also entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals. Among representatives of law enforcement agencies, employees of the internal affairs bodies are most often convicted of corruption, writes "RBK." Women make up about 19.5% of the total number of corrupt individuals and are more often intermediaries in the transfer of bribes. Young people under 24 participate in such crimes less frequently; however, this group shows the most noticeable growth. The Prosecutor General's Office also noted the psychological traits of corrupt individuals: as a rule, they are pragmatic, goal-oriented people with an inflated self-esteem. At the same time, they declare the importance of moral values but demonstrate a low level of respect for the law.
