Russians are forecasted to see an increase in prices for home internet.
According to "Gazeta.Ru," a possible increase in home internet prices is expected in Russia. According to Denis Kuskov, the CEO of the analytical agency TelecomDaily, the rise in tariffs could be 8-10%. The reason cited is the initiatives of the Ministry of Digital Development of Russia. In particular, the introduction of paid licenses for internet providers and additional requirements for connecting to the SORM system is being discussed. The expert notes that operators are already working with SORM, but the new rules may require additional costs. In this case, companies are likely to pass the expenses onto subscribers. According to Kuskov's estimates, in the worst-case scenario, prices could even rise by up to 30%. The final increase in tariffs will depend on whether licensing is introduced and how expensive the new permits for providers will be. Additionally, the new requirements may particularly affect small companies. Some of them may merge or exit the market, selling their business to larger players. At the same time, a sharp price spike is not expected in the near future; however, a gradual increase in tariffs is quite possible.
