The State Duma of the Russian Federation has approved a law aimed at expanding state support in the field of cinema. The document provides for the possibility of full financing for the creation and distribution of Russian animated films for children and youth audiences. This concerns projects that will be produced within the country. The initiative has been prepared in fulfillment of the instruction of President Vladimir Putin. The law also establishes new powers for the Ministry of Culture of Russia. The agency will annually determine the volumes of state support for national cinema and form a list of priority topics. It is expected that the new measures will help develop domestic animation and increase the number of children's films produced in Russia.
