The doctor explained how not to harm the body during Easter.
The Easter table after Lent can become a serious test for the body if one abruptly returns to their usual diet. This was stated by general practitioner Elena Alekseyeva from the INVITRO service.
According to the specialist, after prolonged restrictions, the digestive system operates in a gentle mode, so an abundance of meat, eggs, and baked goods can cause stress to the gastrointestinal tract. People with chronic diseases should be especially cautious.
The doctor recommends gradually transitioning out of Lent: first, add one product and observe the body's reaction. It's best to start with eggs, but no more than one or two a day. After a few days, poultry meat can be introduced, avoiding fatty products.
It is also important to maintain a feeding schedule—eating small portions 4-5 times a day and preferring gentle cooking methods, such as baking or steaming.
Among the alarming symptoms to pay attention to are heaviness, pain, and discomfort in the abdomen. In some cases, overeating can provoke exacerbation of chronic diseases.
The specialist advises completely avoiding alcohol at the festive table. If overeating cannot be avoided, it is important not to ignore any feelings of discomfort and to consult a doctor if necessary.
