A pensioner from Mariupol lives with rats in Kirov and asks the authorities to clean up their apartment.
A few years ago, a pensioner moved from Mariupol to Kirov, escaping from the hostilities. She lost everything in the DPR. In 2023, she purchased a room in a communal apartment at Michurinskaya, 63. In the neighboring room lived another woman. Two years ago, she passed away in the hospital. No heirs were found, and the property passed into municipal ownership.
Since then, no one has cleaned the vacant part of the apartment. According to the pensioner, everything inside is scattered and torn apart, there is an unpleasant smell, insects and rats are running around, and there is their droppings on the furniture. The woman is asking the city administration to restore order in the part that belongs to them. Moreover, she reasons, there are many people in need of housing in the city, and someone could be settled there.
So far, the authorities have only sent the pensioner a letter asking her to bring the keys to their part of the apartment at Vorovskogo, 39. This was back in 2025. But the woman was unable to do this — she has difficulty walking and hearing. As a result, she sought help from the People's Front.
The head of the regional branch of the People's Front, Valeria Cheremisina, stated that the Kirov administration should monitor the condition of its property. Activists have submitted an official appeal to the authorities. If no measures are taken, a statement will be sent to the prosecutor's office in the future.
