Most Kirov residents supported a complete ban on microfinance organizations.
More than half of the respondents (57%) expressed support for a complete ban on microfinance organizations (MFOs) along with an amnesty for hopeless debts. Another 11% support a ban on the activities of such organizations, but without debt cancellation. Only 6% of those surveyed approve of amnesty without a ban. Only 4% of Kirov residents opposed the initiative.
Men are more likely to support a complete ban with amnesty (61% compared to 53% among women). At the same time, women are about twice as likely to advocate for the option of only debt cancellation.
The initiative received the most support among young people under 35 years old — 65%. However, the idea of amnesty without a ban is more often resonant with respondents over 45 years old.
It is noted that the level of education also influences the position: Kirov residents with secondary vocational education more often support a complete ban with amnesty, while among those with higher education, there are more supporters of a ban without debt cancellation.
Among respondents with an income of 150,000 rubles, 62% support a complete ban with amnesty. Residents earning between 100,000 and 150,000 rubles more often advocate for a ban without debt cancellation.
A significant difference is also observed depending on personal experience: among those who have used MFO services, 68% support a complete ban with amnesty, while among those who have never taken such loans, only 46% do. At the same time, "non-clients" more often advocate for a ban without amnesty, while those who have used microfinance services support debt cancellation.
