Medical tourism brought nearly 2 billion rubles to the Kirov region.
This is 12% more than in 2022. The main areas attracting patients from other regions are traumatology and orthopedics, cardio- and neurosurgery, as well as oncology, reports "Kommersant." The funds received are directed towards the development of regional medical organizations. For the patients themselves, assistance remains free — it is provided under the compulsory medical insurance policy. At the same time, residents of the Kirov region, on the contrary, have started to seek medical assistance in other regions less frequently. They received assistance amounting to 535 million rubles — 11% less than in 2022. The region also notes positive dynamics in the treatment of severe diseases. Mortality from diseases of the circulatory system decreased by 9% (from 755.7 to 687.0 per 100,000 population). The one-year mortality rate from malignant neoplasms decreased by 13% (from 24.6 to 21.3), while the five-year survival rate increased by 20% (from 52.6% to 63.2%). It should be noted that in 2023, the first deputy head of the Kirov region government, Dmitry Kurdyumov, reported that the turnover of medical tourism amounted to 1.7 billion rubles, and residents of our region, who also permanently reside in other subjects, were treated outside the region for an amount of about 650 million rubles.
