A powerful flare on the Sun threatens Earth with a magnetic storm.
It was accompanied by a rapid release of a plasma cloud towards Earth, reports the TG channel "Amateur Meteorology in Kirov." According to preliminary estimates, the cloud may reach our magnetosphere as early as tomorrow evening. Predictions for the consequences vary: some data suggest a storm of level G1—G2, while others indicate a stronger one, up to G4—G5. Such activity increases the likelihood of auroras even at mid-latitudes. "For aurora hunters, this is a signal to be on alert," write amateur meteorologists. More accurate forecasts will emerge after clarifying the trajectory and speed of the release.
