Kirov residents turned out to be more modest than Russians in their pension expectations.
Analysts from SuperJob presented a fresh ranking of cities in Russia based on the level of requests for future pensions. According to survey data from the economically active population, the average resident of the country expects monthly payments of 53,500 rubles. However, residents of the Kirov region turned out to be much less demanding regarding state support in old age.
According to the study, Kirov residents consider a decent pension to be 52,200 rubles. For comparison, just last October, this figure was at 48,400 rubles, and in February 2025, it was even lower at 47,600 rubles. Over the past six months, the expectations of the region's residents have increased by almost 8%.
Interestingly, even taking this growth into account, Kirov remains among the cities where pension expectations are lower than the national average. When compared to the leaders of the list, the gap becomes obvious. For instance, residents of Moscow consider a comfortable pension to be 57,900 rubles, while St. Petersburg residents think it should be 57,600 rubles. The top cities with the highest expectations also include Khabarovsk (55,400 rubles), Krasnodar (54,900 rubles), Vladivostok, and Krasnoyarsk (both at 54,500 rubles).
The survey also revealed some curious patterns. It turned out that with age, Russians' expectations grow: respondents over 45 years old consider a payment of 56,200 rubles to be decent, while young people under 35 are willing to settle for 50,800 rubles. Additionally, having a higher education raises the expectation threshold by an average of 3,700 rubles compared to those with only a diploma of secondary vocational education.
Experts note that pension expectations are closely related to current income levels. Those earning up to 100,000 rubles would like to receive about 50,800 rubles in retirement, while citizens with incomes over 150,000 rubles expect payments from the state of nearly 58,500 rubles.
The study was conducted among the economically active population of all regions of the country using personal and online interviews.
