The cattle "leaks" personal data of citizens.
The agency noted that in a number of regions of Russia, there have been reports of messages being sent under the guise of official letters from Rosstat, in which the fraudster demands that they promptly provide information about the livestock population, including their identification numbers.
"Through such letters, the criminals try to obtain personal information from the population, particularly those involved in agriculture. This will allow them to gain access to citizens' accounts and personal accounts," the Kirovstat reported.
The agency emphasized that Rosstat does not send letters requesting personal data, organization details, animal identification numbers, or other information.
"We would like to point out that official letters from Rosstat and its territorial bodies only come from the domain @rosstat.gov.ru. Clicking on any links in messages from third-party domains may lead to the download of malicious software. It is also advisable not to call the phone numbers listed in obviously suspicious letters," the agency noted.
To verify the authenticity of the received message or to obtain reference information, one can call +7 (8332) 64-88-39, email Kirovstat at 43@rosstat.gov.ru, or visit the official social media pages of Kirovstat on VK and Odnoklassniki.
