New electric locomotives have been brought to Kirov.
The Kirov locomotive depot on the Gorky railway has been supplemented with four new passenger electric locomotives of the EP1M series. The equipment has already arrived at the enterprise and is intended for train operation.
As noted by the head of the railway, Sergey Dorofeyevsky, updating the rolling stock remains one of the key tasks — it affects the safety of transportation, passenger comfort, and environmental friendliness.
The new electric locomotives, produced at the Novocherkassk plant, are replacing outdated machines of Czech manufacture. They are capable of hauling trains of up to 24 cars and reaching speeds of up to 140 km/h. In addition, the equipment is equipped with modern control, diagnostic, and microclimate systems, and the driver's cab allows for operation without an assistant.
Russian Railways notes that the use of such locomotives will reduce maintenance costs and improve working conditions for personnel. Earlier, in 2025, the railway already received 12 units of new rolling stock, including electric trains and diesel locomotives.
