Will you be fired for "side" work: a lawyer explained the risks of having a second job
Russians can take on additional jobs without the consent of their main employer — and dismissal for this, as a rule, is not a threat. This was stated by Alexander Yuzhalin, a representative of the SuperJob service.
According to him, there is no official concept of "additional work" in Russian legislation. Usually, it refers to additional employment during free time from the main job — either with another employer or in the format of self-employment. In most cases, it is not necessary to coordinate such activities: the right to freely dispose of one's labor is enshrined in the Constitution of the Russian Federation and the Labor Code of the Russian Federation.
There are exceptions, but they concern certain categories of workers. For example, organization leaders can only work part-time with the owner's permission.
At the same time, an employer cannot dismiss an employee specifically for taking on additional work. However, if the additional employment begins to affect the quality of the main job, disciplinary measures may be applied to the employee — but for improper performance of duties, not for the mere fact of additional work.

Additional work "on the side" is not a reason for dismissal; however, in certain cases, it may lead to problems with the primary employer.
