Half a million for beauty: the prize fund of the flower competition has been announced.

      The Union of Gardeners of Russia has been holding the competition "Let's Beautify Our Homeland with Flowers!" (6+) in the Kirov region for over 10 years. Each year, the number of nominations and, consequently, the number of participants increases. Initially, the project was aimed at educational and cultural institutions, veteran councils, and disability societies, libraries, and museums. A few years ago, apartment buildings joined the initiative, and now private homeowners and garden plot owners are also participating. The Union of Gardeners provides all these concerned citizens, who strive to make their adjacent territories cozy and attractive, with planting materials.

      On March 24, representatives of the Union of Gardeners met with the heads of the Management Companies of Kirovo-Chepetsk. They were introduced to the conditions of the competition, the prize fund of which this year amounts to 500,000 rubles. This information will be conveyed to the chairpersons of the councils of apartment buildings and homeowners' associations. Everyone who wishes to participate in this project will receive free sets of flower seeds.

      Another meeting took place that day at the Local Activity Center in the Solnechny Bereg microdistrict. Many residents of the microdistrict have already participated in the competition and have won prizes. This year, they are ready to seriously compete for victory again.

      For the convenience of project participants, the Union of Gardeners has created a chat where Kirov flower growers can ask their questions and receive consultations from agronomists or landscape designers.

      State Duma Deputy and Chairman of the Union of Gardeners of Russia Oleg Valenchuk noted the growing involvement of Kirov residents in greening adjacent territories. According to him, each year, more and more citizens of different ages—from children to the elderly—join the spring activities.

      "It is especially gratifying that today flowers are being grown near the entrances by both pensioners and young people, and even children. The number of people who care about the appearance of their city, wishing to make it cozier and more beautiful, is increasing. Even one flower planted with love can change the space around. While some may see this contribution as modest, when we combine our efforts, the result becomes truly significant," emphasized the parliamentarian.
