More than 2,000 tourists have taken rides on retro trains in the Kirov region since the beginning of the year.
According to the Gorky Railway, nearly 9,000 people traveled on steam-powered trains along the mainline in January-February. The Kirov region was among the areas with the highest interest in such trips.
The routes "Retro Tour to Slobodskoy" and "Journey Through Time" are the most popular among residents and tourists. In the first case, passengers travel from Kirov to Slobodskoy and participate in an interactive program dedicated to the writer Alexander Grin. The second route goes in a loop from Kirov to Matanzy to Lyangasovo and includes entertainment programs, quizzes, and master classes.
It is noted that over the past three years, retro trains have appeared on the Gorky mainline in several regions, including the Kirov region. Russian Railways is already considering the possibility of launching new routes.
