They want to increase fines for economic crimes many times over.

      Amendments are proposed to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The increase in fines could affect fraud, tax, currency and customs crimes, illegal banking activities, violations in public procurement, the circulation of unmarked products, abuses in bankruptcy, the illegal obtaining of loans, as well as the manufacture and distribution of counterfeit money and securities.

      Among the proposed changes:

      the maximum fine for fraud related to the deliberate non‑performance of contractual obligations in entrepreneurial activity is proposed to be increased from 300,000 to 500,000 rubles;

      for illegal entrepreneurial activity carried out without registration, a license or accreditation — from 300,000 to 1.5 million rubles;

      for the manufacture, storage, transportation or sale of counterfeit money or securities — from 1 to 5 million rubles;

      for an organization’s evasion of payment of taxes and insurance contributions — to establish a fine ranging from 500,000 to 1.5 million rubles.
