Residents of the village of Bydanovo were refunded for municipal solid waste collection.

      The Kirov Region Prosecutor’s Office conducted an inspection of compliance with the law in the charging of fees for the service of handling solid municipal waste. The supervisory measures were prompted by an instruction from the region’s first deputy prosecutor, Dmitry Sherstnev, following a personal reception of village residents who complained about the waste collection situation.

      The inspection found that the utility service was provided with violations: the existing waste storage sites did not meet the real needs of residents. Because of a shortage of containers, residents were forced to leave garbage next to the collection points, yet the regional operator continued to charge fees and issue bills to consumers.

      On the basis of the findings, the prosecutor’s office submitted a representation to the municipal administration. As a result of the measures taken, the violations were remedied: additional container sites were installed in the village, and the regional operator recalculated the solid municipal waste removal fees for the residents of Bydanovo.
