      Illegal tree felling was discovered in the Kotelnich forest district on a plot that was leased by an agricultural enterprise. The inspection was carried out by the Kirov Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor’s Office. It was found that weak oversight by the lessee during timber harvesting had caused damage to the forest fund in the amount of more than 920,000 rubles. A criminal case was opened on the charge of illegal logging on a particularly large scale, the press service of the Kirov Region Prosecutor’s Office reported. To recover the damage, the environmental prosecutor went to court. The court found the claims lawful and ordered the lessee to pay compensation. After the decision came into force, the enterprise fully reimbursed the damage caused by the excessive cutting of trees.
