Snow cover has increased in the Kirov region, and more severe frosts are expected.

      The most snow was recorded in the north of the region: 50 cm in Oparino, 46 cm each in Kirs and Nagorsk, and 44 cm in Lalsk.

      In Kirov, Darovskoy and Nolinsk the snow depth is 37 cm, and in Kotel'nich, Shabalino and Uni — 36 cm each. In the southern districts the snow cover is lower: 34 cm in Yaransk, 28 cm in Vyatskiye Polyany.

      Late on the evening of January 5 amateur meteorologists reported an expected strengthening of the cold. Before the arrival of a second cyclone with heavy snowfall on Wednesday night, air temperatures across the region will fall to -16 to -21 °C, and to -12 to -15 °C in the south of the region. Around -19 °C is expected in Kirov.

      Judging by the forecast map, the coldest temperatures will affect the central and northern districts of the oblast: in the areas of Kirov, Darovskoy, Luza and Kirs temperatures will hold around -18 to -20 °C. In the south — in Yaransk, Vyatskiye Polyany and neighbouring regions — the frosts will be weaker, from -12 to -15 °C. An increase in wind is also noted, which may make the weather feel harsher.
