A live broadcast was held at the Regional Control Center with Minister of Environmental Protection Timur Abashev and the first deputy general director of the regional operator, Dmitry Nevenchenkov. They answered frequently asked questions from residents concerning waste collection during the holiday period.
According to Nevenchenkov, an increase in waste generation is traditionally expected during the holidays. In Kirov, 80 additional containers have been installed, and 24 garbage trucks will operate on the routes. In the districts, 150 units of specialized equipment will be deployed. Changes to the collection schedule may occur due to weather conditions or impassable roads, including because of improperly parked vehicles. In such cases, the garbage truck crew informs dispatchers, who will send another vehicle after some time.
Residents can report improperly parked vehicles via the "Gosuslugi Auto" service, where the vehicle owner will receive a notification to move the car.
The issue of tire disposal was discussed in detail. Container sites are not designed for the collection of hazardous waste. Two tire collection points are operating: at 47A/1 Luganskaya Street and at the regional operator's Lubyagino landfill (16 km along the Sovetsky Trakt). For the second year running, a free tire collection campaign for residents is being held, which has been very successful. Collected tires are sent to the Dmitrov RTI plant to be processed into rubber crumb.
Kirov residents were also reminded what to do with a real Christmas tree after the holidays. Trees can be left at container sites; garbage truck crews will collect them and take them to a shredding site. In outlying areas, haulers will pick them up from waste collection points.
