In 2025, new container routes were launched on the railway in Kirov Oblast.
From January–November 2025 the Gorky Railway launched 15 new freight train routes, 13 of which are intended for container transportation.
Container trains were dispatched for export from Nizhny Novgorod, Vladimir and Kirov oblasts, the Republic of Tatarstan, Udmurtia and Perm Krai, and also operated domestically from Vladimir Oblast and Chuvashia. Freight Express trains from Tatarstan and Udmurtia also began operating on the new routes.
Over 11 months, 126 Freight Express trains and 268 trains were formed according to a specially developed schedule. In total, these trains carried 566 thousand tonnes of cargo.
