The mayor's office explained why the park near the circus is being cut down.

      A few days ago residents of Kirov contacted the Newsler.ru newsroom, concerned about the felling of trees in Kirov Park on the Gorky Street side. Residents reported that “apparently normal and healthy trees” are being cut down.

      We sent a request to the city administration to find out which trees are being removed there and why. The Directorate of Beautification told us that last summer an assessment of the park’s greenery was carried out, during which 23 hazardous trees were identified. “Some of them pose a threat to park visitors: a tree or its large branches can break off in strong gusts of wind,” the directorate said.

      They also noted that work to remove the hazardous trees in the park will continue throughout the winter. And in spring 2026, compensatory plantings will be carried out in the park: new young trees will be planted to replace those removed.

      The city administration added that specialists from the Green Construction Department are also clearing Victory Park of fallen branches and logging debris. Hazardous trees and wild undergrowth are also being removed from Tsekhovaya Street.
