The United Russia contest "People's Deputy" has become an effective channel for feedback from voters.
United Russia summed up the results of the first contest among municipal initiatives, "People's Deputy." Elected representatives from 58 regions took part. Local residents, by voting, selected 407 winners who presented the best practices in working with citizens. The results of the contest and the party's Year of the Municipal Deputy were discussed at a sectoral forum in Moscow. This was reported by the ER.RU press service.
The Chairman of United Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, noted the difficulty of deputies' work in municipalities and expressed words of gratitude. The party is represented by more than 130,000 deputies at the local level.
"The work of a municipal deputy is not a privilege, but a special responsibility and a difficult challenge. The whole stream of the most difficult issues that people face comes to you. It is not an easy job. It is you who ensure effective oversight of various issues and contact with voters. This gives particular value to your work. This makes United Russia a truly people's party," Dmitry Medvedev emphasized.
Earlier, regional forums were held in the constituent entities where municipal deputies discussed issues of joint work with the party's primary organizations, the implementation of the people's program and plans for 2026. More than 200 delegates from across the country took part in the final forum held at the party's Central Executive Committee venue. They exchanged experiences, presented the best municipal practices and put forward federal initiatives. Dmitry Medvedev supported the proposal to launch a training system for municipal deputies on the "VPSh-plus" platform and instructed that the question of holding the "People's Deputy" contest annually be worked out.
At the forum's plenary session, Secretary of United Russia's General Council Vladimir Yakushev stressed that the party faces the task of rebooting all components of its internal infrastructure ahead of the 2026 election campaign.
"The main task of 2024 was to bring work with our primary organizations to the forefront, to show that today the primary party branch is the most important and main thing. A request came from the primary organizations for events with municipal deputies. Because they are nearby and live within the same agenda as our primary organizations. And, of course, after the end of 2025 we will not finish work on municipal deputies. We need to build up all our intra-party work with the municipal level," Vladimir Yakushev said.
