In Kirov Oblast, the number of fraud victims is growing: losses have exceeded 1.2 billion rubles.

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Kirov Region has recorded a sharp increase in remote crimes: in 2025 alone more than 4,700 residents of the region were victimized by fraudsters’ actions, and in the past week another 110 people were affected.

The total losses suffered by Kirov residents exceeded 1.2 billion rubles. Over the past week fraudsters stole another 25 million rubles.

How Kirov residents are being deceived

      Scammers pose as employees of:

      the Central Bank

      the military prosecutor’s office

      medical institutions

      mobile operators

      car dealerships.

Under various pretexts they convince people to “declare” money, transfer funds to a “protected account,” book a doctor’s appointment through them, “stop the financing of terrorism,” or pay for the delivery of a car from abroad. They use messaging apps, fake IDs, photos of documents, and often couriers who collect money in person.

To protect victims the prosecutor’s office has filed with the courts:

704 lawsuits seeking the recovery of funds from owners of drop accounts (+24 over the week)

36 lawsuits seeking to annul loan and purchase agreements concluded against the will of citizens (+4 over the week).

The prosecutor’s office urges Kirov residents to be especially vigilant: scammers constantly invent new schemes to extract money. Do not transfer funds to strangers, verify information using official numbers, and do not trust “inspectors” from messaging apps.
