Chinese brands top the list of the most accident-prone cars in Russia.
As the statistics of the country’s largest insurance companies published by the publication "Avtonovosti" assert, the Changan Uni-V, Voyah Free and Omoda S5 models stand out among the leading brands, topping the number of registered traffic accident cases. Alongside them in the list are models of the domestic Moskvich brand, Chinese manufacturers such as Jaecoo and Chery, as well as representatives of South Korean manufacturers Hyundai and Kia.
The insurance company Soglasie found that Chinese brands are the leaders in the number of accidents frequently involved in incidents. According to Ingosstrakh’s report, the largest share of accidents falls to the Toyota brand (9.4%), followed by Kia (7.5%), Lada (7.4%), Hyundai (7.3%) and Nissan (5%). The models most frequently involved in accidents were the Hyundai Solaris, Kia Rio, LADA Granta, Volkswagen Polo and LADA Vesta.
Renaissance Insurance highlighted models whose involvement in accidents exceeds the average indicator. The largest gap was demonstrated by the Chery Arrizo 8 (+224.8%), followed by the Hyundai Porter (+191.1%), Geely Emgrand (+173%), Exeed LX (+119.3%) and Kia K5 (+117.1%).
Experts emphasize that a high percentage of involvement in accidents may indicate not so much the quality of the cars themselves as driver behavior, the level of road maintenance and the specifics of vehicle operation. Nevertheless, motorists are advised to approach the choice of a car carefully, taking into account insurance market statistics and experts’ recommendations.
