Residents of the new buildings on Dorofeeva Street suffer from leaks and mold.

In Kirov, the owners of 65 apartments in buildings No. 10 and No. 12 on Dorofeev Street have been facing the same problems for several years: leaks on the loggias, dampness, black mold and even icicles inside the apartments.

When buying the flats people were attracted by the spacious loggias with panoramic windows, but those same loggias have become the source of constant flooding. During rainwater gets inside, and in frosts it turns into ice. Some residents have actual icicles on their loggias, while others have walls covered in mold.

The first complaints to the management company yielded no result: residents were told they were using the windows incorrectly. The owners then turned to the State Housing Inspectorate, which found that the cause was the panel joints of the buildings. And because the buildings were commissioned in 2020–2021, the developer is responsible for fixing the problems.

Company representatives attempted to partially seal the loggias, but the leaks continue. To get results, the residents appealed to the People’s Front.

According to the head of the regional branch, Valeriya Cheremisinova, the problems are observed in apartments on different floors and with different layouts, so spot repairs are not enough. The People’s Front is now preparing an appeal to the prosecutor’s office. If the situation does not change, residents are advised to obtain an independent damage assessment and file a class action lawsuit.
