On November 9 the crew of an aircraft belonging to the airline Azimut reported that the engines failed to start. "The crew reported that the engine start did not take; they will later request a repeat start. They did not declare 'Mayday' or 'Pan‑Pan'," the Telegram channel Aviaicindent reported. Notably, the aircraft was scheduled to operate on the Kirov–Mineralnye Vody route. The plane was due to depart Pobedilovo at 19:15. However, due to technical problems the aircraft left Kirov at almost three o'clock in the morning.
