Roskachestvo explained how to avoid becoming a victim of "smart" eavesdropping.

      Roskachestvo told Russians how to use smart speakers safely. Although such devices respond only to specific voice commands, they are constantly in listening mode, analyzing sounds around them to "hear" the wake word.

      At the same time, specialists note, the speakers do not record and transmit every conversation. Only short snippets of speech after activation and technical data necessary for the device's operation are sent to the server. Nevertheless, Roskachestvo advises exercising caution and not discussing personal matters near such gadgets.

      The most reliable way to protect privacy is to turn off the microphone when the speaker is not in use. Most models have a separate button that physically blocks sound recording. Experts also advise checking the permissions of all "smart home" devices and, if necessary, limiting their access.

      "Any background speech can be used to build a profile of the user — their interests, habits and even routes," the Center for Digital Expertise at Roskachestvo reminded.
