A box containing 11 puppies was left at the gates of the shelter in Kotel'nich.

As the shelter's VKontakte page reported, a box containing 11 puppies was found at the gate in the morning. According to volunteers, the pups were dropped off either late in the evening or early in the morning. If it happened in the evening, the puppies spent the whole night in the freezing cold.

"The puppies were crammed into the box, all wet, and the box itself was completely soaked. And this when it's below freezing outside!" the animal welfare activists wrote.

The shelter currently houses more than 100 dogs, and, volunteers say, there is a catastrophic shortage of funds even to care for them. There are practically no helpers, and now it is necessary to provide food and medical treatment for eleven more puppies.

Activists emphasized that such situations are the result of irresponsible owners who do not spay or neuter their animals.

"Someone skimped on 3–5 thousand for sterilizing their dog, and now the shelter has to deal with the consequences! This is not just cruelty — it's audacity of the highest order!" the statement says.

The shelter is asking for help with food and essential items: disposable pads, canned puppy food, and dry food. Volunteers are also expecting the arrival of another seven puppies with a dog they had planned to take in earlier.
