In Kirov Oblast, a contractor was ordered to pay 2.4 million for a botched renovation at a boarding school.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Kirov Oblast carried out an inspection of compliance with the contract-system legislation in procurements for state and municipal needs. During the supervisory activities it was found that a commercial organization that had signed a contract for the major overhaul of the power supply and ventilation systems of the boarding school’s cafeteria in the urban-type settlement of Kumyony did not begin work. The contract price amounted to nearly 2 million rubles.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the contractor effectively abandoned its obligations. The Federal Antimonopoly Service included the firm in the register of unscrupulous contractors. Another company—a reliable contractor—had to carry out the repairs.
Because a new contractor had to be engaged, the budget incurred additional expenses. The prosecutor’s office filed a suit in the Arbitration Court against the contractor to recover 2.4 million rubles—the difference between the original contract price and the amount that had to be additionally allocated.
The court granted the claim in full. The agency reports that enforcement of the court decision is under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
