The EU is going to stop issuing Schengen multiple-entry visas to Russians.

The European Union is preparing to tighten entry rules for Russian citizens. According to Politico, it is reportedly planned to stop issuing Schengen multiple-entry visas to Russians as early as this week.

After the new rules come into force, Russian citizens will mostly be able to obtain only single-entry visas. Exceptions will be made for humanitarian reasons and for people who hold citizenship of EU countries.

The final decision on issuing visas remains with local authorities. The European Commission does not have the power to completely ban the entry of Russian tourists; however, the new measures could seriously restrict their movement.
